Summer Air Conditioning Service

Throughout the St. Louis area, summer keeps our air conditioners humming along day and night. If you choose to skip a spring inspection, you might want to reconsider as the mercury rises. It is critical to keep your air conditioner in tip-top condition so it’s ready to keep your family cool and comfortable during the heat of the summer. If you did have your unit professionally cleaned and inspected, make sure to change the filter often. This will help keep dirt away from the motor as well as improving the indoor air quality.

Give your Unit a Break

When it gets extremely hot outside, your air conditioning unit will work almost continuously to keep you comfortable. Consequently, it may freeze up or shut down completely. To prevent this, we recommend turning it off periodically and allowing for a few hours of downtime. This will also extend the life of your AC unit. The best time to do this is late at night or early in the morning hours – especially during a hot spell when your air conditioner has been working at full capacity during the day.

Summer Maintenance Tips

The following HVAC maintenance tips are important to keep in mind during the heat of the summer:

  • Your primary concern should be making sure your AC unit is handling the demand. Check it every so often – especially during a heat wave.

  • Change the filters regularly.

  • Switch the unit off completely for a few hours now and again. Air conditioners can run continuously, causing serious problems.

  • Keep an eye on the refrigerant lines for leaks.

  • Maintain clearance around the unit to ensure proper ventilation – at least 24” all the way around.

You Can Count on Classic Aire Care

If you schedule regular professional inspections and maintenance visits, keep a vigilant eye on your AC during the hottest months, and change the filters on a regular basis, you will likely stay nice and cool all summer long. Nevertheless, even units that receive meticulous care eventually succumb to age. When that happens in the middle of July or August, you will need a new residential air conditioning installation in Overland.

Our team at Classic Aire Care has earned a reputation for excellence by providing exceptional HVAC maintenance and installation services to all our valued customers. And we invite you to give us a call for all your HVAC needs.

Top notch install quality. While my ac wasn’t that old, I opted for a higher efficiency heat pump system and replace my worn-out older furnace! The difference in my home is night and day difference, can’t wait to see what the bills do.
